hello

I currently work in a salon were there is 6 therapists. At this present time there is one pregnant; one has just had an operation, one doesn’t massage as she has weak wrists. There for that leaves 3 one of whom is a part time massage therapist, so that leaves 2 beauty therapists’ that massage.
My question is: dose any one know what is the most hours of massage you should do in one day?

thankyou

Hi,

I'm not exactly sure of how many hours a day you can perform massage treatments, the reason I say this is that I know some therapists that work at health farms/spas, and they can spend all day doing 30min-1 hour massage treatments, back to back, on some occasions. I personally do not think it is fair to make 1 therapist perform massage treatments all day, as it is very tiring and exhausting, (although I know some therapists specialise in massage, therefor that would not be an option.) Ideally they really should get a break at some point doing other treatments. If it is possible to split massage treatments between the 3 of you then I'm sure that would really help? If that's possible? And it is VERY important that you maintain good posture and make sure you are comfortable when performing the treatments (so as not to damage your back etc). I hope that's helped, I'm not trained in massage yet, otherwise I might have been able to advise you more!

Anyone else know?

Massage therpaists are not allowed to massage all day every day, I went for a job at Butlins and was told although i can masssage and do reflexology and hopi ear candles they all invlove massage so i wouldnt by law be allowed to work there all day as we as massage therapists are supposed to have a break to save our hands from getting RSI.

you are supposed to be given a break inbewteen massages.

Where abouts are u i could do with a job lol

Hello

good thread this.

I am a qualified Aromatherapist along with reflexology Reiki 1 doing 2nd degree next month and have beauty therapy.

I rent rooms above a hair salon and will only do upto 4 massages a day, as it is very tiring, bad on your own posture and some oils can give you a headache.

When i book clients in for this treatment i always allow at least 1 1/2 - 2hr breaks inbetween, that gives me chance to do other treaments inbetween.

and also gives my back and arms a rest lol

Hello,

As far as I'm aware there are no legal limits as to how many massages a therapist can be expected to perform a day. There may be guidelines, but frankly, 'guidelines' for anything are useless as they can be legally ignored.
Sorry.
