Hi everyone. I qualified as a beauty therapist june 2010 after completing the BTEC National Diploma. I would love to now work as a beauty
therapist, but i feel like i have absolutely no confidence in my skills! The course was two years, but the thought of
going to an interview and having a trade test terrifies me and i know that i would not pass. Everybody else who completed my course have
got jobs already, and even though i did the same training as everybody else, i feel as though i have no idea what i am
i doing. Its like i have forgotten everything already, and i feel as though i did not get enough practice during college. For example, in
my whole two years there, I only got the opportunity to perfom waxing treatments on four clients!! I really need help, are there
such things as refresher courses? I obviously don't want to do a whole two year course again, so could somebody recommend a short course
i could do to improve my skills and refresh my memory? Before i even think about working, i really need to improve, to be honest i don't know how i managed to get through the course :( Thanks everyone

Hello Becky, Really sorry to hear that. The best thing to do is to practise at home on people you no. For example your family members. Also i no it might sound silly but go on youtube and see how proffessionals are doing it, because you have got to realise, your a proffesional. You just need a bit more confidence in your self because you wouldnt of passed the course if they didnt think you were good enough to either work for yourself or to work for someone else. Try buying a wax pot and some facial products and just practise. :)

practice, watch videos..more practice..read books..go on youtube read magazines..anything to get you better..and make you more confident...you have to be confident in yourself...as no body else will be :) try and stay positive be a spunge for evereything the main thing is to practice practice and practice!!

with waxing for exsample, apply wax where you can see the hair growth going down or up( go with the hair growth) ...and pull away on the opasit direction ( away from the skin )

just practice your heart out lovey and you WILL be fine :)

many regards Allanah xx
