A BUSY START TO 2016 FOR SAKS ART TEAM
LUKE PLUCKROSE EMPOWERING SAKS STYLISTS
Saks Creative Director, Luke Pluckrose loves encouraging Saks stylists to push their boundaries creatively. To this end, in February he took time out of his busy schedule to host four professional photoshoots in London, Leeds, Darlington and Aberdeen for Saks stylists who have their eyes on entering hair industry photographic awards. As a result Saks have 18 entrants in the prestigious L’Oréal Colour Trophy Backstage Live Final Tour in April!
TAKING WHAT MAKES SAKS SPECIAL OVERSEAS
Next up Luke jetted out to Bologna in Italia with new Saks Art Team member Shaun Stringfellow (senior stylist at Saks Teesside), to show “What makes Saks special” overseas.
The boys hosted a seminar for 700 Italian stylists and these two day interactive sessions included how-to demonstrations of the cuts and styling for each look in Saks’ latest hair collection, Irresistible You, the avant-garde and Q&As.
LONDON FASHION WEEK
Dean Jackson of Saks Durham was on the Zandra Rhodes team for the second year running and thoroughly enjoyed catching up with the legend that is. With a Studio 54 inspired collection of 70s-inspired floaty kaftans and boho turbans, hair was super soft and super messy waves with nonchalant back knots. Dean says: “For Zandra’s show it was lots of tonging and lots of L’Oréal Techni Art Pli.”
For Mary Katrantzou’s technicolour rodeo theme, there were brightly embellished clothes, tulle and Swarovski galore. Dean says: “Again, soft back waves were big and, interestingly, chop sticks were used to create perfectly straight fringes.” Clare Murphy of Saks Art Team at Joseph. For these stunning hair looks Clare says: “Hair was blasted, brushed out and crimped with fringes and the sides texturised and bent to the back to give frame the face.”
THE BRIT AWARDS
Saks Art Team is no stranger backstage at the BRITs and for this year’s star-studded event Luke says: “We love providing the ultimate backstage styling experience for members of our A-TEAM programme who in turn get to talk about their backstage experiences in their salons for ages afterwards.
“This year’s Neon Garden Party was special as it was aptly 80s Bowie inspired – we embraced creating new romantic hair looks, and working with big hair pieces is always a great buzz!”
