An Interview with David Beesley, MD Skinbrands Ltd

David's career background is "blue chip" with his first real job as a salesman for the Duracell Battery Company where he developed his skills in many different roles, including a spell in South Africa running the local Duracell Company in Johannesburg, finally ending up being a senior member of the management team back in the UK. After 14 1/2 years he moved on to set up a consultancy business, that lasted 6 months as was head-hunted by SONY to run their recording media business. Eight years on he decided there are more things to life than the ongoing drudge of meetings, reports and more meetings. He moved to America to set a new business with a UK business partner, "it started with a fax machine, laptop and a phone, that's all" he said recently, in 5 years it was $12 million enterprise.

He lived in Santa Monica California for 7 years, during that time marrying Tracey who is his partner in the SkinBrands business.

With plans to return to the UK, Tracey had mentioned that the best skin care she had ever used is SkinCeuticals; her Aesthetician said "it's amazing as it actually does what they say it will" the rest is history as they say. SkinBrands distributes SkinCeuticals, SkinMedica, SKINN, Susan Ponick and BKamins as well as Microdermabrasion machines.

The company's sales channels are varied, ranging from Doctors, Dermatologist and Plastic Surgeons, Medi-Spas, Beauty Salons, and the "big three" Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and SpaceNK.

David commented recently, over the last 5 years it's been a massive learning curve for us. But with not having any 'baggage' bringing simply business skills and experience to the industry and above all a passion and a deep knowledge for all the products we sell has presented us with a very large opportunity which makes every day varied and very exciting. Our plan is to grow all our brands and look to bring others to the market to make our business grow ahead of the market. We have a great team all committed to having fun and keeping customers happy and well supported, so they come back for more.
