Are Beauty Therapists the Happiest People in the World?
Two years down the line and a big life change I decided or was guided to enrol on an intensive NVQ II and III Beauty Therapy Course at my local college and this which I later found, was to be one of the best decisions which I have ever made. My passion for beauty had started¦. I not only fell in love with the beauty industry but also the holistic side to it as well. I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm and anyone with these similar characteristics is well suited for this occupation, for it brings diversity and continual changes, there is never any room to be bored. I also enrolled in various holistic therapies including Hopi ear candling, Indian head massage and Reiki and I was know hooked!!!
My first job was not glamorous but it was a start. A small room in a hair salon. I stayed there for a year and with a year's experience I decided to apply for a position at one of Britain's prestigious spa's in Hertfordshire. Now I was open to more knowledge and training. Working in a spa is hard work but the knowledge and experience you receive is insurmountable.
I received training in product houses and various other therapies. I not only loved performing my treatments I loved meeting my clients who were from all walks of life. It also felt fulfilling to see a client more relaxed and de-stressed after a treatment (a tip always helped) and just a simple thank you made me feel I had made a real difference.
With all this wealth of knowledge which I had acquired at college and through the spa I decided to start my own mobile business. I was also given the opportunity to make guest appearances on my local radio station to talk about the benefits of having therapies.
Looking back would I have ever guessed that my life would turn out the way it has? It's not always been easy and working as part of team has had it up's and down's. But all in all it has been a wonderful rollercoaster ride.
In-flight Beauty Therapist, Beauty Consultant, Complimentary Therapist, Nail technician, the list is endless
A friend had told me that they reckon Beauty Therapists are one of the happiest people in the world and I have to admit they are probably right!
