We had the opportunity to speak with Stephanie Lavill about her role as Treatment Manager. Working within the prestigious Historic Sussex Hotels group, Stephanie shared her advice on a career in the spa industry.
How did you get to where you are today?
I studied at Chichester College for 2 years, then after I worked on, and gaining experience and doing training in the industry, I worked my way up through the supervisory levels of management, before getting my promotion to Treatment Manager. I’ve been in the industry for 13 years.
What have been your highs and lows of your career?
The highs of my career would definitely be getting my promotions at various levels but also I’ve always enjoyed learning new things and doing lots of training.
I’m fortunate enough as there haven’t been many lows, but sometimes it’s a shame when some team members and colleagues leave.
What keeps you motivated in your career?
Definitely the team I work with. I’m lucky to enjoy my job role anyway, but it makes it much more enjoyable when you have a lovely team around you to keep you going.
What advice would you give someone wanting to start a career in spa?
Working in the spa industry is very rewarding as you’re always helping people feel better. You need to have a passion for it and a willingness to help others to overall enjoy what you do.
What’s in your makeup bag right now?
My lip balm and bronzer are always my make up bag essentials!
