This is a simple but effective way to add length to your hair without needles or glue. You just clip in as many hair extensions as and where you want and you then just take them out at the end of the day. With these extensions it can sometimes be a bit harder to conceal them because, unlike other types of extensions, you can’t hide the enclosures on the clip on and aren’t ideal for use in large quantities. Stick in a few near the nape of your neck and nearer the middle of your head, but always underneath a layer of your own hair and never near the top, to give you that seamlessly full and lengthy effect.
These are not so different from clip in except that they are more permanent. You can either sew them in or glue them in. Sewing is typically safer because it doesn’t damage the hair, but it is also better for more afro type hair just because it stays in better. Sew in weaves are also very good for times that your hair is in the middle of transitioning from chemically treated to natural, or if you’re trying to grow your hair out from having been damaged. A weave is a good way for you to look great and not touch your natural hair.
These are more or less the same as weaves but removable at the end of the day. This is probably one of the most dynamic extensions because it gives the wearer so much more freedom over their own hair in a short space of time. Rather than having to keep it in for a certain space of time you can remove as and when you wish. They come in so many different styles and colours , no one can really go wrong with having a few wigs in their possession. A lot of girls with ‘fro’ hair, who don’t want to keep going into the salon for braids or weave, prefer wigs because it gives them the freedom of choice, without the hassle and expense of other types of extensions, treatments or styles .
Braids are a time consuming but beautiful form of extensions. Like the weave you can leave it in for at least 3 months at a time, in real human hair or synthetic.
Certain styles work better with synthetic hair, like fully plaited box braids, fully braided micro braids, twists and faux locs because synthetic hair is rougher and so more prone to keeping their shape and not unravelling.
Other styles like pick and drop braids, micro pick and drop braids work better with natural hair because the waves are more natural and are less likely to tangle. You can do all of these styles in long braids, thin braids, red braids, blue braids, white braids; they are so versatile and can be worn by everyone no matter what hair type you have and in any style you choose.
Hair extensions are worn by so many people these days, in all types of materials from synthetic hair, to Peruvian, Malaysian, Brazilian and Indian; all intending to look different and unique to suit the unique style, lifestyle and personality of the wearer. For this reason, choosing the correct style and type of hair extension is important, not just because it extends your hair and hair style, but because it acts as an extension of your own personality.
