Can you imagine only having 20 minutes to pack your suitcase? WHY? Because you are being whisked away to a magical desert island in the middle of nowhere. What are the beauty products you feel you can’t do without and must take with you? If I happen to be in that situation, below are the beauty items that I must take with me to satisfy my egotistical self.
And as for the hat for sun protection and hand fan to cool myself down, I’ll use palm leaves and weave something fashionable. So these are my top 10 beauty product picks:
Eucerin Even Brighter Day Cream SPF30
Unless you have experienced sunburn, you wouldn’t really understand the importance of a good face cream with SPF (Sun Protection Factor). And regardless of whether you are travelling to a hot climate or not, SPF face cream should be part of your skincare routine all year round. If you suffer from darkening of the face, especially during the warmer months - you will need to protect your face from the sun.
Flora Mare Beautiful Radiance Intensive Mask with Brush
What makes this beauty mask so special is that it is suitable for all skin type. It has anti-ageing properties. The feel of the applicator brush that comes with the mask is so therapeutic on the skin. It is one of those products that you use and see immediate result such as smoother looking skin. So, you can imagine the look of your skin when you start using it twice a week as part of your skincare routine.
Nuxe Nourishing Lip Balm
The problem with most lip balms is that they feel slightly oily or too sticky. I can’t stand anything too shiny on my lips. I can’t imagine living in a hot climate and having to deal with bleeding lip gloss. With Nuxe lip balm you experience supple looking lips without the greasiness or stickiness usually associated with normal lip balm. I use this daily on its own or underneath other lip products and my lips always feel smooth.
On days when I don’t want any colour stain on my lips (no makeup look) whilst still wanting to look polished, I simply go for this balm. The smell is divine with a combination of citrus and honey - which probably explains its yellowy orange colour.
Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser
When you want to talk about a cleanser that is affordable and effective long term, you've got to include the Nip and Fab glycolic cleanser. You don’t see results immediately, but only when used on a regular basis. You can incorporate it into your daily skincare routine either morning, evening or both. It has a fruity smell and is suitable for those with acne prone skin like me.
This oil is well known for its antifungal, antibacterial and overall health benefits. I hate clutter and tend to gravitate towards beauty products that are multifunctional when possible. One of those multi-purpose beauty products is coconut oil. I love the smell of it in my food and on my skin. Instead of buying a makeup remover, I simply use the coconut oil first to remove makeup before using a cleanser. Also, I apply the oil on my cuticles to keep them looking supple. It’s affordable and yet very effective at the same time.
If you don’t believe in buying expensive lip balm, it makes a good alternative to shop counter versions and is highly effective.
Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads
Nip + Fab cleansing pad comes in day and night versions. I have tried both and I’m comfortable using the glycolic fix night pads for my morning and evening skincare routine. What makes this product so fantastic is that it cuts down on the number of things you have to carry if travelling, even if it’s just for one night. It’s so convenient because the pads are already pre-soaked. With this in my beauty bag, I’m able to do away with having to carry cotton pads and a bottle of toner.
Shea Nourishing Body Butter
Regardless of the season, I use this body butter all year round and that says a lot about the quality. I know it’s on the pricey side at £15 for 200ml. But if one of your skin goals is to have moisturised skin 24/7, you must add this to your beauty cupboard. I love the smell of this cream. In the winter season, the skin can get flaky or whitish if you suffer from dry skin and wearing thick tights doesn’t help at all. Applying this on your body everyday will put your dry skin woes at bay.
Floradix Floravital Iron Vitamin Formula Liquid
I used to enjoy taking iron tablets until I discovered the liquid version. And I have not looked back since then. You must remember that beauty is both on the outside and within. So looking healthy starts from what you put in your mouth.
This has now become part of my lifestyle. I take it at least three times a week and more frequently during that time of the month. Apart from the lovely taste, it is also good in making you have more energy. We've all been there, when you are having to juggle a million and one things all at once and never mind the toll it can have on your body.
NYX Professional Make-Up - Soft Matte Lip Cream Paris
I don’t believe in complicated makeup or beauty routines in general. The simpler the techniques or applications, the more likely I am going to buy and use the product. On days when I want a simple look with minimum effort, I simply go for lip cream matte by NYX Cosmetic in Paris. Each time I am seen in this lip colour, I always get compliments from people asking me about the colour that I’m wearing. It’s lightweight, highly pigmented and it doesn't dry out my lips. WHY? Because I always exfoliate, followed by lip balm each time before applying any lip products, especially lip matte products.
Body Shop Lipscuff
I have used this product for over four years and it is still one of my favourites. I have over the years added other brands to my collection. The Body Shop lipscuff, has the appearance of a lipstick which you can twist up or down. Just like lipstick, you apply it on your lips. You either rub your lips together or use your hands to work the product on your lips. Apart from removing the dead skin from my lips, it preps the lips for my favourite lipstick or lipgloss.
