Last updated May 2018 is a job board that seeks to assist job seekers in the pursuance of employment and employers / recruiters to source suitable candidates for their vacant positions. At your privacy is important to us and we will do all we can to ensure all personal information obtained will be used in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into force 25 May 2018. We will only therefore use your data in accordance with the following policy:

1. Jobseekers and Candidates

(1.1) Types of Personal Information we may hold on you

When you register with us as a candidate you will be prompted to provide us with personal details. We classify personal details as any piece of data which may identify you as an individual. Examples of personal information we hold include but may not be limited to your:

Details that may identify you such as your name and photo

  • Contact details (address, email, telephone numbers)
  • CV and personal information held therein
  • Cover letter

(1.2) Purpose of processing and how we obtain your personal information

During the registration process all of our prospective candidates can consent to providing us with their personal information such as name, email address and CV. processes this personal information for the legitimate interest of recruitment and providing work-finding services and/or information relating to roles relevant to you. If you do not wish us to collect personal information on you please do not provide it.

(1.3) How can I manage or have deleted the personal information you hold on me

You have the following rights:

  • Right to be informed about how your personal data is being processed and why
  • Right to request access at any time to view the personal data we hold for you
  • Right to request correction and have rectified any personal data we hold if for example it is inaccurate or needs updating.
  • Right to request erasure of any personal data we hold for you so that we stop processing your personal data and have your personal details removed from our database.
  • Right to object to the inclusion of any personal information
  • Right to request restriction of processing of your personal data. This means as a candidate you have the option of opting out of job alerts, withdrawing a job application and deactivating your account.
  • Right to portability of your data where you can request your personal data is provided to you in a format (i.e. PDF) suitable for transferring to a third party
  • Right to request the transfer of any personal data we hold for you

(1.3.1) To update your CV and manage your personal information:

Please note you are responsible for keeping your personal information up to-date and we cannot be held responsible for any eventuality of your personal information being inaccurate. To update your CV or rectify any personal data we hold for you, please sign into your account on Hairandbeautyjobs.con and select the menu option ‘Edit your profile’. From there you can make any necessary changes and save the updates.

(1.3.2) To request we delete your data:

If you no longer wish for us to process your personal data and would like to close down your candidate account then please write to us with your request. You can email your request to [email protected] or send it to our postal address - 43a Chertsey Road, Woking, Surrey, GU21 5AJ. We will deal with your request within 1 month of receiving your request.

Please be aware: If your account is terminated then all of your account information including your CV, profile, cover letter, shortlisted jobs and job application records will be irretrievably removed from our site, both front and back end.

You should also be aware that in applying to any job vacancy, that the 3rd party employer in question may still retain your personal information within their records. You may therefore want to contact them independently to request any possible information they hold on you is also removed.

Please note for quality reasons, reserves the right to remove any candidates account where we deem the account to be bogus, contain obscene or illegal content or where the contact details (such as email address) are no longer valid.

(1.3.3) To hide your personal information from employers and recruiters searching our database

Employers and recruiters can pay to search our talent database to find suitable staff for their vacant positions. You have full control under your account privacy settings over whether your personal details and CV are searchable.

If you have previously selected to hide your name, address, telephone number or email then we have removed your profile and CV from being searchable on our database. If you are unsure what your privacy settings are set to currently we advise you to sign into your account and check your privacy settings, available to view under ‘edit my profile’.

If you are at all concerned about your personal details being searchable to employers accessing our talent database then we advise you to tick the option under your privacy settings marked ‘No, please do not make my profile and CV searchable’

(1.4) Who do we share your personal information with and by what means

For added protection of your personal data, makes it a requirement of our terms and conditions that any third party employer or recruiter using our services does so for recruitment purposes only and any subsequent processing of your personal data is done in full abidance of GDPR data protection regulations. may share your personal information with employers and recruiters if you apply to a job and/or you consent for your profile to be searchable on our talent database.

(1.4.1) You apply to a job

If you opt to apply for a job being advertised, your profile and CV (if uploaded) together with any personal information held therein will be automatically emailed to the relevant employer / recruiter for consideration in respect of the advertised role.

The outcome of your application may be dependent on information you provide so we would advise you check your contact details are correct and that other information such as your work history and qualifications are up to-date. You are responsible for both checking and maintaining your personal information and we cannot be held responsible for any consequences with your application should it come as a result of inaccurate information being provided.

Please note, recruitment agencies advertise job vacancies on behalf of third party employers on our site. These agencies will have accepted terms and conditions with us stating that your personal details will only be forwarded onto their hiring client with your consent.

You should also be aware that some direct employers will occasionally request that their identity on an advert be anonymous owing to sensitivities around a particular vacancy being advertised. You bear the responsibility of deciding whether you want to proceed in applying to a vacancy advert under such circumstances.

(1.4.2) Your profile is found by employers / recruiters searching our candidate database

Unless you have chosen to not make your profile and CV searchable, then your profile + CV (and all personal information contained therein) will be accessible to potential employers searching our database. You should be aware there is the potential for your current employer to be a client of and to have also purchased this service.

Employers and recruitment agencies upon finding your details on our talent database may contact you via any of the contact details provided on your profile and CV, such as telephone or email. we will make attempts to verify the identity and nature of any business accessing our talent database. However we cannot make any warranties to their authenticity and furthermore cannot control subsequent third party use of information they have access to whilst receiving our services and cannot therefore be held responsible for any eventuality.

We advise you therefore to be sensible about the information you provide on your profile and CV.

(1.4.3) Statistical Information may use some or all of the data contained on the candidate database for the purpose of collating general statistical information which may provide third parties and clients certain information about the site such as number of stylists in a given geographical area or the number of therapists with a given qualification. However, we warrant that such information will not include identifiable details of you as an individual.

(1.5) How long will you store my personal information for

You will have access to the data we hold for you on for as long as you require us to keep it for work-finding services. Our data retention policy with regards to your personal data is as follows:

- Job applications

Any job applications made by you will be shown in your candidate account for a duration of 3 months only.

- Profile + CV

If your account shows a prolonged period of inactivity then we will write to you asking for consent to keep your account open. You have 1 month with which to respond to our request. If we do not receive your consent then we will delete your account and thereby cease processing your personal information.

(1.6) Marketing Services and Communications

Providing we have your consent, will provide some job-finding and career related services by email. We have listed such services below. You have the right to opt-out of receiving these communications via the unsubscribe link included with all our mail and/or within the subscriptions area of your account.

(1.6.1) Job Match Mail Alerts

The job match mail alerts service offered by requires that you provide us with your job preferences (specifically location(s), job role(s), employment type(s) and salary) which we will then store for the purpose of automatically matching you with any vacancies posted by our clients. The job match service is something you can opt into receiving at registration. We default to send job match mail on a daily basis but this can be amended within your account to being weekly.

Career newsletters and 3rd party career and training opportunities by email

Career newsletters

If you opt in to ‘receive career newsletters and 3rd party career and training opportunities by email’ then we may email you our career newsletters updating you on jobs, career and training opportunities in your sector or notify you of any new services on offer through our site.

3rd party mailings

If you opt to ‘receive career newsletters and 3rd party career and training opportunities by email’ occasionally you may receive details of career and training opportunities from recruiters, employers and education providers operating within the hair and beauty industry.

(1.7) What steps do you take to keep my personal information safe

  • SSL encryption - To protect your personal information uses industry standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption to encrypt our services and secure your data.
  • Restriction of access - All our data is stored in a secure web environment with access to your personal information restricted to employees of or agents (such as our web developer) and contractors working on our behalf who need access to ensure proper functioning of our work-finding services. Each member of staff and agents are subject to contractual confidentiality and obligation to observing the principles of our privacy policy.
  • Password Protection - When you register with us you will be asked to provide an email address and password. Please do not share your password with anyone else and try to include a combination of symbols, numbers and letters in both uppercase and lowercase formatting. It is also advisable not to use the same password for any other site you use. All our server access is password protected as is access to our CRM.
  • Regular reviews of our approach to data security - We supply all our employees with a copy of our internal data protection policy, detailing all our practices and procedures to keep your data safe.In addition we carry out internal audits and regular reviews to ensure we are compliant with data protection regulations.

2. Employers and Recruiters

2.1 Your responsibilities to a candidate’s personal information

In the capacity of data processor, fully abides by the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and has received consent from each of the candidates on our database to have their personally identifiable information made available to employers and recruiters for recruitment purposes.

Providing you only make contact with a candidate about an actual job opening you may therefore have access to a candidate’s personal information if:

  • They apply to one of your job adverts - As part of the job application you’ll receive their profile and if uploaded their CV with all the personal information contained therein
  • You come across their profile + CV on our talent database

It is important for you to realise that in processing the candidate’s data you as the recruiter and employer are acting as a data controller and need also to abide by the GDPR. will therefore share candidates personal data with you on the basis that you agree to fully abide by the following rules:

- You may only contact a candidate for the purpose of filling a specific job vacancy. For anything beyond this you need to obtain your own GDPR compliant consent from the candidate in order that you may process their information

- You only ask a candidate for information that is necessary and relevant for the performance of the job role you are recruiting for

- You do not share the candidate’s personal information with a third party without the candidate’s express consent

- You only store the candidate’s details on your ATS (applicant tracking system) or talent database with their express consent

- You have checked that any 3rd party ATS you use is fully compliant with GDPR

- You only keep the candidate’s data for as long as is necessary

- If you plan to gather more information about a candidate (i.e. screen their social media profile) as part of your screening process then you need to explain that explicitly and detail how and why

If you cannot abide by each of these requirements then please do not use our services.

(2.2) Direct Marketing Services from

As a direct employer or recruiter you may be interested in receiving details of our seasonal recruitment advertising offers, recruitment services, tips for recruiting candidates and relevant services we think you may be interested in from 3rd parties.

During registration for your employer account you will have the option to consent to receiving these marketing services by email. You may change your mailing preference at any time from within the subscriptions area of your account. We also provide the option to unsubscribe on each of our mailings.

We use CloudFlare to help speed up our page load times. The ‘_cfduid’ cookie is set by the CloudFlare service on our site to help identify trusted web traffic. It does not correspond to any user id in the web application, nor does the cookie store any personally identifiable information.
